About the CIP

Students work one day each week from September to May at some of Pittsburgh’s premier employers, completing tasks and projects typical of entry level employees. Work hours are generally 9:30 am to 2:30 pm Students wear school uniforms, are provided with lunch, and the Academy coordinates transportation. The professional setting provides the students with experiences that reinforce skills introduced in the classroom: communication, delivering quality work, collaboration, and decision making.

The Corporate Internship Program also reinforces our core Mindsets. Students earn credits towards graduation while exploring career options and building self-esteem, self-confidence, and optimism. Additionally, students have the opportunity to earn up to $20,000 toward college or post-secondary career training through the annual St. Joseph the Worker Scholarship Award.

The Corporate Internship Program is new to Pittsburgh, but is inspired by established programs in 30 US cities including Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Memphis, Philadelphia, and New York.
